Literary Junkies: October Edition

***If you are new to the blog, see what this is all about here.***

It is time for the October edition of the Literary Junkies! I must admit, I am a bit behind on my reading, but I intend to catch up very soon!

Here are this month's questions:

1.  What are you currently reading?  Tell us a bit about it.

I am not currently reading anything, but my Amazon wish list is calling my name!

2.  What are your five most recent book purchases?

Well, the last books that I purchased were all of Gillian Flynn's books.  You can read more about those here and here.  The two before that....I couldn't tell you.

3.  Have you ever named/nicknamed anything (person, pet or thing) after a character? Who and why?

Not that I am recalling, no.

4.  If you could live in one book, all of its characters and in the town, which would it be?
Oh wow....Hmmm.....I can't really think of one off the top of my head.  However, when I was little, I wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder and live just like she and her family did.

5.  Can you think of a book you read that taught you something concrete that you've never forgotten? Tell us about it.

I have read a lot of books and I have taken in a lot of things from books, especially over the past five years or so.  I have learned a lot about myself through the various books I have read and I always seem to be just a tad more unique after each book I read.  Books add a special spice to my life that my soul needs to feel whole.

Do you love books?  Do you love to write about books?  You should join us for our monthly Literary Junkies party!  Find out more here

  1. If I had just gone a little bit further back in my purchased list - like #6 and #7 - they would have been Dark Places and Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. :)

  2. I read (and watched) a lot of Little House on the Prairie as a kid, so I used to love pretending I lived out on the prairie! It seemed so much fun!

    1. Two of my most memorable Christmas gifts were The Nancy Drew Series and my Little House books. I just loved getting into both of those atmospheres that the books portrayed. I was insightful even as a kid! Ha!

    1. Ohh, I remember those days. I mean, I got to read a lot of literature with my degree, but then all the psychology and the education terminology....it fried my brain. I would stock up on books throughout the semester to read in my down-time and then, on break, I would just crash with a stack of books. Hang in there! It gets better!

    1. Oh yes! That was a great book! If I had to rank them in any order it would be Gone Girl, Sharp Objects, then Dark Places. I want her to write more! Thanks for stopping by Meghan!

  7. I am reading Book Thief right now and am really trying to push myself through it. It has gotten so many good reviews that I thought I should read it, but sometimes readers just don't all have the same tastes. Gone Girl is on my list...maybe I'll agree with those reviews!

    1. Gone Girl is great! I haven't actually heard of the Book Thief-I may have to look into that one. I know what you are saying though--I never read the Harry Potter series. I was never interested in them and apparently a vast majority of the world loves them. ,It just depends on what your tastes are as an individual and, everyone is different that's what makes us all unique!
