From L's Bookshelf

I thought today would be a good day to showcase some of what L has been reading lately.  I, of course, use the term "reading" loosely because she is just under two and a half years old. However, she knows what books are her favorites and we read them quite frequently throughout the week.

This girl has loved books from the beginning.

Now that she has gotten older, we don't just play with the books anymore, we like to "read" them to anyone who will listen.

Even if it isn't a children's book.

Since the holiday season is upon us, here is a collection of what L has been reading lately.  Maybe you can find a title or two to put under the tree this year for the little one(s) in your life.

The Going to Bed Book || Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
Thank You for Being My Friend || Guess How Much I Love You
Where the Wild Things Are || Goodnight Moon
Stay Close to Mama || My Perfectly Purple Purse
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

  1. That's so wonderful that she loves books so much!! My son loves the Where The Wild Things Are book :D He has an old Sesame Street book that is his favorite - Big Bird's Color Game - It was my other half's book when he was our son's age!

    1. Kenzie, you just reminded me that we have a box in storage of all of my husbands books from when he was a kid. He has A TON of those Sesame Street books. I bet Lynzi would love those, too. Lynzi cracks me up when we read Where the Wild Things Are-she likes to yell "rumpus!" and dance. LOL! Ah, kids. :) Thank you so much for stopping by today!

  2. Your daughter is such a cutie ~ and seeing her with books and reading a book is precious. I am a BIG believer in the importance of books and reading. Thanks for this post because it got me thinking about my little 5 month old grand daughter. I need to be giving her books and reading to her like I did for my own kids. Some of the books you listed above are also some of my favorites but some of them I don't know so I'm making a list to check them out. Thanks. Have a fantastic week.

    1. Thank you Lori! When we had her baby shower, I asked for everyone to bring a book with them so that we could start her a library. I started reading to Lynzi when she was six months old, before bed. I'm a firm believer in starting children as young as possible in books, as well. My mother read to me and when I started to read, I would read to my mom. As I got older, I just kept reading. It makes me so happy that she loves books. :) You are welcome for the recommendations! I hope you find some that you and your granddaughter will enjoy. :)

  3. OMG, I have The Going To Bed Book memorized completely...it's been one of our favorites since my son was a baby- and he's 9 now. My 5 year old is currently obsessed with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom because they just read it in kindergarten. We also love Guess How Much I Love You & have the little stuffed bunny guys that go with the book :) All great reads!

    1. I, too, have The Going to Bed Book memorized, as well as The Perfectly Purple Purse and Good Night, Moon. There are probably countless others too! LOL! Isn't it amazing what we can fit into our brains?

    1. No problem Shauna! I didn't list this up there, but what about the Llama Llama books? Those are always a fun read and can get giggles out of my kiddo. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I haven't taken Lynzi to the library....yet. I need to do some more research on what the local library has for kids her age. Our area doesn't tend to concentrate on the kids under, say, 4. It can be a bit frustrating.
