5 Key Pieces for Spring Series: The Flippy Skirt

Today is the last post in this series and we are going to talk about that little black skirt up there in the picture.  "The industry" is calling that a flippy skirt, but in my day, it was called the skater skirt.  So, flippy skirt...skater skirt...whatever....it's a short skirt that isn't for the faint of heart.

You're not going to catch me in a skirt that short unless it's cold enough for me to wear leggings or tights under it.  Why?  Because I am a total clutz and if I happened to be wearing one (without tights or leggings) at the time of one of my "incidents" I would probably flash unsuspecting souls and ruin them forever. So, these skirts are basically like the harem pants we talked about a couple of weeks ago.

And here's how I found some of them styled via Pinterest

That's all for me this week!  The Hubbs and I will be celebrating our anniversary this weekend so if you wanna see what we are up to, follow me on Instagram!  Have a great weekend and I will see you all on Monday!

5 Key Pieces for Spring: White Jacket

Alright, so we've talked about denim jackets, striped dresses, and harem pants. That leaves just two items left in this series: the classic white jacket/blazer and the (weirdly) named flippy skirt.  Because I am in the market for a couple of blazers, I thought that I could just combine all my browsing into useful information to share with all of you.

So, we know that black blazers were all the rage in the fall/winter.  Well, now you need a white one to go with that black one.  Here's what I have found lately:

I am leaning more towards the Forever 21 blazer.  I like the cut because it will still look okay on my short-torso'd body and I've always been a fan of two-button blazers.  I also like the faux pockets.  I think that adds a bit of character to a plain piece such as this.

I always like to go to Pinterest and hunt down style ideas on the pieces I talk about.  It is easier for me to see how something is styled and then put my own spin on it, than to just think of something from scratch.  Very rarely do I come up with an outfit off the top of my head.  I'm usually always inspired by something I have seen and then I take it and run with it.  I believe that is the beauty in finding our own style: to be so inspired by something that we wish to recreate it in a way that suits ourselves as an individual.

Okay, so, you know I'm going to show you what I've been pinning, right?

This wraps up my posts for the week since I will be out of town for a wedding!  Please be sure to follow me on Instagram (@lifenleopard) to see a sneak peak of what I wore to the wedding, how we entertained ourselves, and how well L fairs on a six hour road trip.   Then, come back here Monday to hear ALL about it!

Have a great rest of the week and a fabulous weekend!

Mint for Spring

Happy Monday and a happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!  I thought since today was all about green anyway, I thought I may show you that you can wear green even after St. Patty's Day is over!  Yep, that's right, mint is a big color for Spring this year.  I do love the occasional pastel in my wardrobe and this color just happens to be one of my "go-to pastels".

I found a lot of pretty things when I was doing my research and I think I may have to purchase the pretty lace button up.  I don't know-we shall have to see.

I know I have been really sporadic with posting lately, and when there is one, they are a bit different than what you are used to seeing.  There is so much behind the scenes work going on right now.  You guys would flip if you saw my blog planner and my to-do lists.  The new layout for this space is still being created, I'm trying to set up the other blog for my personal writing, and a lot of other little things that need to be done for the re-brand to take place.  That's just in the blog world.  In my real life, we have been going to birthday parties, gearing up for a six hour car ride with a toddler at the beginning of April, and potty training.  I'm just swamped.

I will be back tomorrow for my monthly Literary Junkies post (which I am actually co-hosting this month!) and I have two other posts planned for this week.  It's going to be a full week of blogging here, so please be sure to check in!  I'm getting really frustrated with Facebook as of late-no one is seeing my posts.  I have tried everything!  I don't know what else to do! So, if you are following me on Facebook, you may want to follow me on Twitter or Google+ too so you don't miss anything. You can also subscribe by email at the very top of the blog on the right hand side, above my picture.  Just enter your email address and you should get an email every time I publish a new post.

Okay, I think that is all for today.  I will see you all tomorrow and thank you for being so patient and supportive.  I love ya for it!
